This past weekend, I made some new cubbies. We are growing, and some of our part time children have changed schedules making sharing a cubby to be quite challenging. So... I did some rearranging and added a set of 4 new cubbies. The children were excited to see the rearrangement, but they were more excited about the hardboard "left overs" from the construction! (I use the hardboard as the cubby back).
The various chunks of hardboard are perfect for making racing ramps!
The children each took turns exploring and investigating the various pieces. You can race cars down, balls, rainsticks.... and you can try all kinds of other things too! It is a perfect opportunity to add vocabulary as you share your observations with the children. We talked about up, down, over, under, on, off, through, top, bottom......
You can race the cars down.....
You can drive the cars up.....
Then after a little while, you might just need to take a break
and read a little bit more about cars and trucks.....
You can build all kinds of garages and towers to crash into! We talked about speed, experimented with slope, foundations, supports and various building materials.
Hours of learning fun!
Have you ever explored ramps with children? We'd love to hear about it!
looks like they had alot of fun with those things i enjoy hearing what you are up to with the kids keep up the good work from
