As a parent, I know that choosing a place for your child to be cared for, to learn and grow is a difficult and sometimes overwhelming process.
I dedicate this page to providing resources to you as you look for childcare and to provide you with information in regard to the various programs and support group in our local area.
FINDING CHILDCARE:
Did you know that all licensed and registered child care facilities (home based and center based) are listed on the state's website? This is important not only when you are looking to find childcare options, but also because any inspection (routine or special investigation) for a facility is public information.
You can search for child care and find the licensing reports through LARA's website here.
(There is also an option to search for childcare through Great Start, HOWEVER- many providers have opted out of being listed through their search engine due to the lack of quality in their Quality Improvement and Rating System. You can read more about that here.)
PAYMENT ASSISTANCE FOR CHILDCARE:
(Please note- not all childcare programs accept the following assistance programs. Additionally, there are eligibility requirements for all of the programs listed)
Military Family Assistance through NACCRRA. This assistance program is for military families and also requires that your childcare provider be apply for approval. (Our program here at Child Central Station was previously registered with NACCRRA and can reapply to accept payments for assistance if you qualify).
Michigan Child Development and Care. This program is run through the State of Michigan Department of Human Services. Child care assistance payments are based upon income. You can check the guidelines and apply online by clicking here.
